Camille Chiang is a contemporary artist born and raised in Hong Kong and now residing in New York.  She focuses on capturing the complex emotions of human behavior through a compelling series of mixed-media portraits.

Camille moved to the United States with the ambition of starting a career in psychology, which relates closely to her artwork, but ended up venturing into the Web3 space. She was drawn to the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and art and to generative projects, a format requiring the artist to relinquish elements of artistic control to AI to generate new creative forms. Four sold-out collections later, Camille is using her skills and Web3 journey as an avenue to create membership-based subscriptions to her work and releasing a curated collection of fashion items using her signature facial features, bright colors, and bold lines.

Painting is a powerful emotional outlet for me. When I create a picture in my mind and push it onto canvas the release is far greater than I could express verbally. Growing up I was always an observer, soaking up feelings and internalising them but not responding externally. Having a very intense inner dialog because I don’t feel that words work - it’s unsatisfying. But when I’m able to paint, my inner dialog is quieter. I see color in emotions and it’s clear to me that each colour relates to a state of mind. I don’t create composition because I’m actively thinking about it technically; I do it based on where I am focusing my emotion. I paint because I need to, and the process is not always within my comfort. A successful piece shows that I have pushed myself to open myself up.

My goal as an artist is to capture the small untold stories we all carry inside. I want to evoke feelings and emotions that we often overlook or bury. Using mixed media I work linearly from mess to precision joining the abstract and surrealist art worlds to express vulnerability and identity.
